The '10 for 10' Campaign...
Although it is a bit away, in 2028 Still Waters House will celebrate 10 years since that incredible phone call that brought it to life.
Over these past years we have achieved so much, and made such a difference in people's lives. We want to keep doing it, and a lot more, way beyond 10 years, but we need resources and stability to do it. So, we are looking for people who will share the vision and enable the journey.
Will you be one of the first ten people to join our new campaign? Making a monthly commitment of £10 (you can choose to gift more if you want) you will support us today and into the future...
Our financial model works in two specific ways: 'ACCOMMODATION' and 'SUPPORT',
they are funded in very, very different ways.
RESIDENT SUPPORT DELIVERY
Resident Support is the reason we do this.
Every penny we use to deliver support has to be fundraised!
Our whole aim is to help guys break a cycle of homelessness and insecurity and find a positive and sustainable life with secure accommodation in their future.
Consistent and quality support is at the heart of this journey!
These journeys are often complex, with multiple needs to be addressed, trauma to be overcome, confidence to be built, and opportunities to be created and grasped.
We need your help to deliver the kind of support we believe will enable these guys to make it. To resolve the issues of the past and to rise up and achieve their hopes and aspirations for the future.
Your generous support of us will pay for Support Staff salaries, necessary resources, social activities, emergency provision, important training, household items, IT equipment... actually, everything that is beyond the accommodation!
Although we expect the guys to meet their daily needs for food and transport and personal items (that's part of growing in confidence and skill), we do love to be generous where it is appropriate, and you can let us be generous with your gift.
ACCOMMODATION PROVISION
Accommodation is largely (but not exclusively) funded through Housing Benefit, which each resident receives.
The majority of our premises costs are covered through this, from the lease we pay for the houses we use to a large part of utility and running costs of the communal areas, as well as regular maintenance and safety requirements. Each resident is required to pay a small amount each month towards their personal costs such as the utilities they use in their bedroom.
It is of course essential then that we do not have empty bedrooms too often or for too long, otherwise we have to find other means to make these payments.
Housing Benefit also contributes to the salary of the Housing Manager and a Housing Assistant.
Housing Benefit draws directly upon Public Funds, and so we are very careful not to abuse this means of funding by claiming more than we need to deliver a high quality, safe, and comfortable home for our residents. From time to time we need to raise funds to meet a shortfall in Housing Benefit income.
We also cannot claim for certain items in the houses. This includes furniture which needs regular replacement, and so we need find the funds for these items.
