Still Waters House
Our Story So Far...
Serving God - Loving People
Still Waters House is a ministry from Birmingham Central Baptist Church, Springhill (BCBCS). The church has a history spanning over 150 years, and throughout that time has run many social action projects in the community.
In 2012 BCBCS joined a number of other churches to found the Birmingham Churches Winter Night Shelter. These churches opened their doors during the coldest winter months to provide a warm safe space, food, and a bed for some of the city's most vulnerable rough sleepers. Sadly, the night shelter's work ended after 7 amazing years, leaving BCBCS wondering how else they might serve the Birmingham's homeless community.
In 2019 BCBCS was contacted by national charity, Green Pastures. Green Pastures invited us to explore an opportunity by where we could adapt our homelessness ministry to provide accommodation and support. Green Pastures offered to obtain a house for us, help us set it up, and enable us to build the necessary structures and procedures to effectively deliver this ministry.
In March 2020 we opened our doors and welcomed our first resident. Since then we have gone from strength to strength, continuing to welcome men who have found themselves in the most difficult of times and doing all we can to help them travel a journey to wholeness and independence.
In September 2022 Still Waters House became a registered charity in its own right, it is still firmly a ministry of Birmingham Central Baptist Church though and we are delighted by the support of other local churches and organisations.
Still Waters House has many organisations and individuals to thank, all of whom have helped us on our journey...
