About
Still Waters House is a Christian Charity which began life in 2018. It was originally established by Birmingham Central Baptist Church and is run in partnership with the national charity, Green Pastures.

We obtained our first house, with four spaces (provided by Green Pastures) in 2019, and welcomed home our first resident in March 2020 (in the first week of lock-down).

Still Waters House became a registered charity (1200086) in August 2022.
In April 2024 Still Waters House obtained a second property, with seven spaces.

Still Waters House is driven by a belief in Justice, and was established as a response to the many concerning reports that were being received around poor quality supported accommodation in our city. People who were in vulnerable circumstances, were finding themselves in terrible situations, with badly maintained and even unsafe accommodation, which lacked any meaningful support. We set out to change the narrative, believing that well run supported accommodation can be a lifeline to many people and enable lifechanging and lasting solutions to end homelessness and vulnerability.
What we do
Still Waters House offers support with accommodation for men who are homeless, or who are in vulnerable situations where becoming homeless is imminent.

Accommodation is provided within our two properties. These are shared houses, where each resident has their own private bedroom, and shared kitchen, bathroom, and communal areas. We work hard to ensure our houses are always kept to a very high quality and safe standard.

Support is delivered by our experienced team. Currently we employ a Housing Support Manager and a Support Worker, as well as a Property Care assistant. We also appreciate the gifts of time and skill delivered by our volunteers.

Through guidance and training we enable our residents to build the skills and resilience which will allow them to enter into independent and secure accommodation in the future. We signpost them to organisations and agencies which can support them to overcome the issues which may have contributed to their homeless situation. And we do all we can to enable and encourage them as they take their journey of change.
Making a Referral
Still Waters House only accepts referrals from established organisations. We do not accept self-referrals or referrals from members of the general public.

We run a four stage referral process -
Stage 1 Criteria check (a two page form which checks basic information).

Stage 2 Referral Form (an indepth fact find which gathers essential information and identifies initial support needs).

Stage 3 Face to face interview (to discuss the completed referral form and clarify or explore information. To explain what Still Waters House offers to, and what is expected from the referred individual. To give all parties an opportunity to get a feel for whether we think this will be a good option.

Decision As quickly a possible following the interview Still Waters House will make a decision as to whether we accept the referral, or not. If all parties are in agreement then a support and housing offer will be made. A full induction will be given to the new resident, and an initial support plan will be developed.
The person will be welcomed home into one of our houses.
